Understanding Chronic Pain: What is Chronic Pain?

Pain is a natural part of the human experience. Often arising from injury or illness, pain serves as an important signal that something in the body needs attention. For many people, pain fades as the body heals. For those living with chronic pain, however, that signal becomes a persistent presence that can affect physical functioning, emotional wellbeing, and quality of life.

Chronic pain is generally defined as pain that lasts longer than three months, whether it is constant or comes and goes over time. It may develop following an injury or illness, accompany an ongoing medical condition, or appear without a clear or easily identifiable cause.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 24.3% of adults in the United States live with chronic pain. It is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care, yet many individuals struggle to feel fully understood or supported in their experience.

Does True Life Center Accept Insurance?

As part of our commitment to delivering exceptional and integrative mental health care, True Life operates as a private pay treatment provider, however, many of our patients receive partial reimbursement through PPO insurance plans.

Each patient and family works directly with our concierge billing specialist, who submits courtesy claims and superbills to insurance on patients’ behalf, prepares and provides all required documentation for out-of-network claims, advocates for the maximum allowable reimbursement, and coordinates authorizations and doctor-to-doctor calls when necessary. Most importantly, our specialist provides transparency, accessibility, and ease to you along the treatment journey.

What Types of Care Are Included in The Program?

True Life Center offers an integrative mental health program combining carefully selected modalities from both Eastern and Western disciplines. Our approach brings together therapy, psychiatry, somatic practices, and lifestyle-based interventions under one coordinated plan.
