Grief and Loss

Understanding Grief and Loss: What is Grief and Loss?

Everyone will encounter grief and loss at some point in the human experience. Though these experiences are universal, the way each person metabolizes and expresses them is deeply individual and can leave people feeling profoundly alone. Grief may arise in anticipation of loss or in response to it, and can follow the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a role or identity, an experience, or a pet. Grief can also mirror features of other mental health conditions, such as anxiety or depression.

From a clinical perspective, Complicated Grief (Prolonged Grief Disorder) is a diagnosis used when grief-related symptoms persist at a significant and impairing level for 12 months or longer. While this diagnosis applies to some, professional support can be beneficial for anyone navigating grief, regardless of whether diagnostic criteria are met.

Support for grief focuses on creating space for the full range of emotional responses, helping individuals make meaning of their loss, and restoring a sense of connection and stability. With compassionate support, grief can become more integrated, allowing individuals to carry what they have lost while continuing to engage with life.

Does True Life Center Accept Insurance?

As part of our commitment to delivering exceptional and integrative mental health care, True Life operates as a private pay treatment provider, however, many of our patients receive partial reimbursement through PPO insurance plans.

Each patient and family works directly with our concierge billing specialist, who submits courtesy claims and superbills to insurance on patients’ behalf, prepares and provides all required documentation for out-of-network claims, advocates for the maximum allowable reimbursement, and coordinates authorizations and doctor-to-doctor calls when necessary. Most importantly, our specialist provides transparency, accessibility, and ease to you along the treatment journey.

What Types of Care Are Included in The Program?

True Life Center offers an integrative mental health program combining carefully selected modalities from both Eastern and Western disciplines.
