It’s that overwhelming feeling of sadness and worthlessness that has taken over your life. Depression can come in many forms; some people experience irritability; others feel despair. Appetite can go up or down, sleep is affected, and once pleasurable activities can no longer be enjoyed. The toll on individuals, their families and society overall is great. At any given time, 1 in 10 people could be experiencing depression, from mild to severe, related to postpartum, or secondary to a medical illness. For being so common, it can generate significant fear and disability. What will make it go away?
We, at True Life Center for Wellbeing, are nationally recognized experts in treating depression with an innovative and highly effective approach. Individual psychotherapy offers a unique opportunity to re-wire your brain. Modern neuroscience has shown that one-on-one talk therapy can create the same structural anatomical changes in your brain as medications. Therapy is the holding ground allowing people to experience true healing and lasting transformation. At True Life, we offer a wide range of psychotherapy including psychodynamic, short-term, CBT, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Relational and Interpersonal. We take great pride and care in our thoughtful approach to pairing the patient with the therapist, as a good fit is the foundation to facilitating change.
Group therapy, Education Classes, and Mindfulness Meditation are all unique and integral parts of our treatment programs. It has been shown that meditation can effect profound structural change on certain parts of your brain that regulate your mood, sense of calm and safety, and creativity. Not to mention, you will benefit from a stronger immune system and lower blood pressure. A big part of our job is to provide you with the tools for a healthy life.
To achieve True Wellness, you must acquire skills and develop healthy coping mechanisms that will allow you to take the very best care of yourself and thrive in all areas of your life:

What is a major depressive episode?
When depression strikes, it could have a precipitant or it could be purely biological and come out of nowhere. There is no one cause of depression. For all of the major advances in medical science, we still do not have a clear causal understanding of this disease. Yet we do know that many environmental triggers can initiate the symptoms of depression such as: relationship issues, stress, medical illness, grief and loss, trauma, employment or financial problems, or any combination. The list is endless.
Perhaps you or your loved one have been feeling...
Persistent sad, anxious, or “empty” feelings
Feelings of hopelessness or pessimism
Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or helplessness
Loss of interest in activities or hobbies once pleasurable, including sex
Fatigue and decreased energy
Difficulty concentrating, remembering details, and making decisions
Insomnia, early-morning wakefulness, or excessive sleeping
Overeating, or appetite loss
Thoughts of suicide, suicide attempts
Aches or pains, headaches, cramps, or digestive problems that do not ease even with treatment
There is not one type of depression and therefore there cannot be only one type of treatment. At True Life Center for Wellbeing, we believe in your recovery and are committed to results. One thing we know for sure, the earlier these symptoms are addressed, the more likely you will have a full recovery. Do not hesitate to contact us now, for the individualized assessment that could change your life.
Delaying treatment could cause an even greater impact to your own personal health and wellbeing, in addition to the toll it takes on people outside of you, including family and society at large.
Depression is a killer...
It is the 11th leading cause of death in the U.S., accounting for 30, 000 deaths each year. Some of these are caused by the greater mortality rate associated with depression, but the unfortunate truth is that 15% of depressed people take their own lives.
Serious Complications for Chronic Disease
There is no way to deny it. Depression makes chronic illness worse and having chronic illness puts you at greater risk of having depression. Instead of the average prevalence rate of 10%, the people who are already struggling with a medical condition have annual prevalence rates of depression of 65%.
Detrimental impact on all Family Members
This is a family disease. When one member is affected, the whole unit experiences the burden. For example, children of depressed parents are more likely to struggle academically and have behavioral problems in school.
Associated Substance Use Disorders
Co-Occurring is just how these illnesses manifest. There is an approximate 60% overlap of either depression, anxiety or another mental disturbance and a substance use problem. At True Life, we will treat the whole person. We are not going to help you get sober, only to have your depression pull you right back into a relapse.
Personal burden of depression...
Personal Impact of Depression is far reaching: from school, work and activities you used to enjoy, to relationships, social life, and neglecting your own health. With insomnia, poor concentration and lack of energy, how could anyone continue to thrive? The effect of depression is devastating. At True Life Center for Wellbeing, we are devoted to not only getting you back on your feet, but to helping you learn new self care practices and integrate new ways to maximize your health and be the true you.
